AZL and Festina Finance reach a new milestone in pension administration

September 2026

The successful transition of four pension funds demonstrates how AZL and the Festina Finance platform are enabling greater flexibility, ownership and scalability in pension administration.

We are pleased to congratulate AZL on the successful transition of Pensioenfonds DNB, Pensioenfonds TNO, Vopak Pensioenfonds and BPFV – accounting for about 80,000 participants – to the Future Pensions Act (Wtp) with a solidarity premium scheme, marking another important step in the Dutch pension transition. The transition highlights AZL's ability to guide pension funds through one of the most significant changes in the Dutch pension landscape while maintaining continuity, control and service quality.

Festina Finance and AZL have been working together for several years, with a number of pension funds already running successfully on the platform. This latest go-live represents the next stage of that journey and further strengthens AZL’s capability to support pension funds throughout their Wtp transition.

For AZL, fund configuration is considered a core part of its administration business and an important capability in supporting both existing and future clients. The fund-related knowledge gives AZL the opportunity to handle change at a rapid pace. By combining pension administration expertise with configurable technology, AZL can respond quickly to legislative, regulatory and fund-specific changes while maintaining operational control and consistency.

Supported by training and close collaboration between the two teams, it highlights how configuration can be placed closer to the business, enabling faster, easier and more efficient changes as requirements evolve.

For Festina Finance, this milestone has a special significance. It marks the first time a client in the Netherlands has configured pension funds themselves on the Festina Finance platform.

This gives AZL greater autonomy in implementing and adapting pension schemes, reducing dependency on software release cycles and increasing responsiveness to client needs.

As the Dutch pensions market continues its transition under the Wtp, flexibility and adaptability are becoming increasingly important. This milestone demonstrates how pension administration expertise and configurable technology can work together to support change at scale while maintaining control and consistency.
